Police in Australia have arrested an 81-year-old man after he allegedly posted footage of him abusing an 80-year old woman on social media.

The woman was sitting in her living room with her husband at the time of the alleged assault.
She told police she was in her kitchen when she noticed her husband and son running around and said “there was someone coming towards me”.
The man was arrested in relation to the incident.
He is said to have told police he had dementia.
“He said he could not remember what happened but he felt a sense of helplessness, he felt like he was being assaulted,” a statement from Melbourne Police said.
“After he was released he made a phone call to the emergency services to report the incident.”
Police say a number of witnesses came forward to report what happened.
Police say they have interviewed the elderly person and are continuing their investigation.
